Just a quick update. On Sunday I started getting Braxton Hicks contractions which felt so strange. Luckily it wasn't painful, but you could see my stomach contracting and releasing! The contractions were quite strong so we decided to keep an eye on them. On Monday I woke up feeling ill and exhausted, and the contractions were still going, but now I had pain in my back and legs as well. I contacted Dr. Burger and he said that I should rather come in and see him. After some tests he figured out that I have infection in the amniotic fluid, probably caused by an imbalance of bacteria in my stomach. He gave us 2 courses of anti-biotics and wants to keep an eye on us, so we're going back in 2 weeks. Luckily for us we caught this quite early, otherwise it could have had some bad results. Other than that he is very happy with Caden's growth and the heart and organs seem to be working perfectly. Anyway, hope all is well with everyone! Will keep you posted!

My liewe Caden,jou Ouma het eergister nogal geskrik. Ek het nog nooit sulke sterk braxton higgs kontraksies gesien nie. Jou ma se maag het sommer op een groot knop getrek en ek het maar net gebid sy druk jou nie nou al uit nie. Haar grootste bekommernis was dat jy dalk kan seer kry. Gelukkig is ons vrese nou verby en weet ons jy en sy is eintlik O.K. Sy moet 'n handvol pille drink, jy moet dit maar saam met haar sluk en verdra. Gister kon ek jou hartklop en alles op die sonar sien - dit was 'n groot voorreg en oomblik in jou ouma se lewe. Ek wens ek kon dit met jou oupaw, gran en gramps deel.

Dear Caden,
Sorry that we are only writing to you now after so many days but our computer was off-line due to a shuffle around of rooms in the house. Your mom and dad only let me know about three days after her ordeal about what happened. We were all terribly worried but thank the Lord that you are such a strong little boy and helped your mom through it all. Your dad sent me a recording on the e-mail labelled "Caden's Engine" and what an absolute thrill to hear your little heartbeat. Your are really going to be our brave little fighter.
