What says Khalil Gibran? From Ohpaw

Hello my dear boy. Your Ohpaw has always recited the following paragraph from Khalil Gibran to me, eversince I was a teenager. But I have not heard it since you were born, and your Ohpaw just reminded me of it:

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, "Speak to us of Children."
And he said: Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

These words are the most profound that I have ever heard about parenthood and I will strive each and every day to live up to them. Thanks for reminding me dad!

Here are some photos of when you and Kai had a playdate. It was amazing to see you "discover" each other, but you can see that for yourself on the pics!

Love you my only!

Dearest Caden
The photos of you and Malakai are tooo cute. Your are both growing so beautifully and I can see that the two of you are going to be big buddies when you get bigger.
Your Ohpaw has the most awesome poems and I hope that he will be sharing some more with us in the days to come.
We are missing you so much and cannot wait to be near you again. You seem to be getting so nice and big and those fat little legs, Gran just wants to kiss them.
Love you all lots and lots. Plenty of hugs and kisses
Gran

Caden,

Jou Ohpaw doen my hart goed.
Dis pragtige fotos. Dankie vir al jou glimlaggies en liefde. Jou Ouma waardeer dit baie,
Lief julle 3,
Ouma Rina
