Hi All,
Finally the critical first 72 hours are over, and now we wait patiently for the next four days to pass (the possible bleeding phase). After a very emotional visit on Friday night with Caden, Dr. Burger agreed to discharge me and I got to sleep in Wes's arms to recharge a bit. Today we went to see our little angel again, and caught up with Dr. Vermaak in the passage on our way to NICU. We were so relieved to hear that our warrior is not only stable, but improving. Dr. Vermaak is very happy with his progress, and will try to take him off the ventilator in the next 2 days. When we went to see him we got that wonderful feeling of being very proud parents. He is such a little fighter. When sister Maureen changed his nappy he wanted to complain, but because the pipes are going through his voice box, he could only manage to pull a very unhappy, yet very cute little face. We also had the pleasure of seeing him yawn and stretch and our hearts were filled with overwhelming pride. He is taking in all his food and is on 9mls every 3 hours now. Tomorrow they will try 12mls, and so on until he is on the right dosage. Thank you so very much for all the prayers and thoughts and we ask that you continue to say a prayer at night for this very special little miracle.
Love
Wes & Elriza

Dear Wes, Reezie and Caden,
What wonderful news that our little angel is growing stronger and drinking larger amounts of milk with every feed. Caden, our wonderful Lord is really caring for you and keeping watch over you every second. We are so thankful knowing that the Lord has got you in the palm of His healing hands. Our little angel, you must continue to grow stronger each day so that soon you will be on your way home to your mom and dad and the rest of the family.
Wes and Reezie, with your love for each other and now especially for Caden, you can only grow as a loving family and remember God is only a prayer away and He will listen and answer.
Reezie we are so pleased to hear that you are feeling much better. Rest as much as you can so that you can continue to supply your little warrior with lots of that healthy milk to help him grow big and strong.
We love you all lots and lots.
Plenty hugs and kisses
God Bless

Hi Elriza and Wesly,
Here is a special poem for little Caden. May God's strength and power be seen through the miracle of little Caden Matthew Paul. Just know that you as a family are carried on the wings of our payers.
Much love Joanette van Wyk (Centurion Church of Christ)
Teeny tiny little toes
Small and round his little nose
A newborn child with eyes so bright
You fill the world with much delight
Formed in the palm of God's own hand
Your destiny appears quite grand
Although your path has just begun
Your future shines, just like the sun.
A precious gift from heaven above
God sent a miracle for all to love
As moments pass your soul will grow
To learn things that you did not know
We've longed to see you face to face
And we've prepared a special place
You'll rise above; you'll make mistakes
You'll fall in love; your heart will break
Yet through it all you will remain
A link within your family's chain
Whose bond shall strengthen over time
Despite the mountains you must climb
A newborn child with eyes so bright
You are indeed a wondrous sight
Your skin so soft; you features small
But you are loved by one and all
I know tears fell from cherubs' eyes
As they embraced you with goodbyes
Before you flew from high above
To grace us with God's gift of love
For Caden ... A Poem
Through the eyes of a child
Listen, hear the sound
The child awakes
Wonder all around
The child awakes
Now, in his life
He never must be lost
No words must deceive him
in God he must trust
With the eyes of a child
We must come out and see
That our world's spinning round
And through life we will be
A small part of a hope
Of the love that exists
In the eyes of a child
Tenderly
Listen to me child
How does it feel?
Tell me little child
Just what is real?
Life now awaits you
And you will show the way
No hurt will befall you
As long as we pray
With the eyes of a child
We must come out and see
That our world's spinning round
And through life we will be
A small part of a hope
Of the love that exists
In the eyes of a child
Tenderly
Wow! Oh uncle Zak, thanks for the website address. What a miracle!! I
can almost relate since my Kimberley was 2.2 kilos at birth! The
photos of Caden's leg in Wes' hand just blew me away! Oh, and let me
rapidly add that Kimberley at 15, is now taller than her mother, and
the size of a fully grown woman! Uncle Zak, again, heartiest
congratulations and our prayers continue with the family, Especially
little Caden.
with plenty much love
